Valentine's Special

There are various factors which can have an effect on the look of your breasts, especially as you age. Fortunately, breast surgery allows you to alter the breast for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes. The goal of most breast surgeries is to lift breast tissue for a more youthful appearance, increase or decrease the size, alter the shape, or reconstruct the breast after injury or illness.

If you are considering breast surgery in Indiana, learning what you want and understanding your options is central to getting the most out of your procedure. Our Board-certified plastic surgeons can assess your body type and integrate it with your needs to ensure you end up with the look that works best for you. In addition, we will provide extensive guidance regarding what you need to do to prepare and how long it will take to fully recover.

Breast Augmentation

Mammoplasty, or breast augmentation, is any modification meant to enhance the size or shape of the breasts. Patients who receive this type of breast surgery in Indiana most frequently have implants placed, although a fat transfer may be an option for some.

Implants consist of a silicone-based outer shell filled with either saline water or silicone gel. The outer casing can be smooth or textured, and the shape can be round or teardrop-formed. Each feature has its purpose, depending upon the chosen look and filler. A knowledgeable plastic surgeon can help patients decide which kind of implant is best for helping them achieve their goals.

Breast Lift

Mastopexy, or breast lift, is suited for women who find the skin supporting their breast tissue has too much laxity. This condition is called ptosis and causes the breasts to sag. Patients with this condition have more skin than the existing breast tissue requires. In this procedure, the plastic surgeon lifts and shapes the breast by removing excess skin and tissue, and positions the areolar complex to a naturally-appearing location. In addition, numerous patients choose a breast lift procedure in conjunction with a breast augmentation.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is an effective treatment for women suffering from neck, back, or shoulder pain due to the excessive weight of large breasts. They may also experience numbness in their fingers, inability to exercise, or difficulty with finding comfortable clothing. This procedure removes excess skin and breast tissue to create a more manageable breast size.

Although many Indiana residents choose this breast surgery for medical reasons (which may be covered by your insurance plan), a number of them will undergo a reduction for cosmetic purposes alone. Men who have gynecomastia, a condition which results in the overdevelopment of breast tissue, may also choose breast reduction to masculinize the chest appearance.

Breast Reconstruction

Patients who have suffered the loss of breast tissue due to injury or illness may choose breast reconstruction to return their breast to as close to a natural appearance as possible. It is a common procedure after receiving a mastectomy or lumpectomy for cancer treatment or as a preemptive measure due to genetic testing.
