Ronald K. Downs, M.D., F.A.C.S. founded The Centre, P.C. in Elkhart, Indiana in 1992 upon graduation from his plastic surgery residency at Rush Medical Center.
Dr. Downs is also an active member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The American Medical Association, The Ohio Valley Plastic Surgery Society, The Rush Surgical Society, and The Indiana State Medical Association where he served on the Board of Directors from 2000 to 2002 as Chairman before serving as Board President from 2002 to 2004 then IMPAC Chairman from 2009-2012. Also, Dr. Downs served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Elkhart County Medical Association for over 15 years.
Dr. Downs is currently an adjunct professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in South Bend.
He is the Founder and Inventor of the Strialite Stretch Mark Device—the first FDA-cleared, home medical device for stretch marks.
A thought leader in all areas of plastic surgery Dr. Downs consults and provides best practices for several plastic surgery manufacturers and suppliers.
With appearances on QVC and regional broadcast and radio shows Dr. Downs has become a household name.
Plastic Surgery Training and Experience
After Dr. Downs completed his plastic surgery training at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, he became board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1994. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Although Dr. Downs’ board certification and credentials demonstrate his knowledge and expertise, his surgical skill is the basis of his greatest recognition. Dr. Downs has an excellent reputation and takes pride in helping his patients achieve a natural appearance, while creating form, and function.
Dr. Downs continuously works to develop new treatment methods and technologies that may provide his patients with the satisfaction that they deserve. He has been trained in all treatments and products offered here at The Centre, P.C.
Dr. Downs is known for his caring and compassionate nature and his commitment to achieving the best results possible for each patient. He strives to educate his patients about each procedure in a warm yet professional manner.
When not in the office, Dr. Downs is an active member of his community and church. He enjoys lifting weights and playing golf. He is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish – despite the fact that he played football for the U.S. Naval Academy, Notre Dame’s fierce rival.
