PDO Thread Lift

The PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive treatment that lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO) suture material.

PDO Threading in Mishawaka is a low-risk procedure that lifts and tightens sagging facial tissue with threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). These unique threads produce temporary lift results, but over time, encourage cellular renewal through collagen stimulation.

This non-surgical procedure is ideal for patients who prefer a less invasive treatment for loose or sagging skin or as a preventative measure to minimize the early signs of aging.

The cost of PDO Threading ranges from $300 to $4,500, depending on the patient’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Thread Lifts

How does PDO Threading work?

In the past, the only way to effectively lift or remove loose or sagging skin on the face was to have a surgical facelift. PDO Threading is an exciting, non-invasive procedure that offers similar results with minimal to no downtown and without surgery.

PDO threads are carefully laced through facial tissue and manually manipulated to pull the underlying tissue back and tight.

The threads are made of a biocompatible material called Polydioxanone (PDO), which safely absorb into the body after three to six months.

This “healing” process provides ongoing and progressive rejuvenation for facial tissues. In addition to lifting the skin, the treads encourage long-term cellular rejuvenation around the treatment areas via collagen stimulation.

Even after the threads are absorbed, the body’s natural healing process will continue to stimulate new collagen growth, improving skin tone and firmness over time.

Am I a good candidate for PDO Threading?

Ideal patients are in good general health, nonsmokers, and realistic about their facial results.

More specifically, PDO thread lifts offer an effective alternative for patients in Mishawaka who are unable to have surgery for medical reasons (e.g., high blood pressure, type two diabetes, etc.) or patients who prefer a less invasive procedure for treating loose or sagging skin.

What should I expect during the procedure?

Before the procedure, your provider will clean the area to be treated and draw temporary lines to help guide thread placement. Next, your provider will gently inject local anesthesia near treatment areas.

Your provider will then make an entry hole (toward the back of the cheeks, if treating the nasolabial folds). Next, a thread-loaded cannula is inserted through the entry hole and gently guided through facial tissue along the temporary lines.

When the cannula is removed, the thread is left behind. Your provider may then manipulate the threads externally with their hands to pull them tight and smooth.

Lastly, entry points are cleaned; the thread’s end is cut and no longer visible.

The entire procedure typically lasts no more than 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

How long do results typically last?

Thread lift results are visible immediately and will improve over time, but they are not permanent. The PDO threads will absorb into the body after approximately six months; however, the new facial contours will remain for approximately three to six months longer.

Repeat or touch-up procedures may be necessary to maintain preferred results.

What is recovery like?

Depending on the type of thread used to perform the procedure and the number of areas treated, patients can typically resume daily activities immediately.

Your provider may advise you to avoid or modify certain activities, but because patients are treated using local anesthesia, they usually don’t require special assistance post-procedure.

Common side effects may include bruising and/or swelling. Patients are advised to use over-the-counter medications like Tylenol to manage any discomfort.
