As the next frontier of soft-tissue fillers, Restylane® erases lines and folds by adding volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift the skin and smooth out the wrinkle or fold.
It is made of a natural substance already found in the human body and is, in fact, almost identical to the body’s hyaluronic acid which makes it completely biodegradable and allows it to integrate naturally into the tissue allowing important nutrients to pass through to the injection site.
Restylane is not derived from an animal or human source, so the risk of allergy or disease transmission has been eliminated. It is also long-lasting, though not permanent. Its effects can last up to six to twelve months, compared to four to six months for bovine and human-derived collagen.
In addition, unlike permanent fillers, Restylane® does not contain artificial ingredients such as plastic beads, which at times cause lumps that require surgical removal.
