Lunchtime Nose Job with PDO Threads
Rhinoplasty isn’t the only way to define and straighten your nose anymore. The Centre, P.C. has expanded our PDO thread treatments to now include nose lifts, a non-surgical alternative to the traditional nose job.
PDO threads, or polydioxanone threads, are thin medical grade threads made of protein. They are 100% biocompatible with our bodies and will be absorbed over time, similarly to surgical sutures.
During a nose lift, a local anesthetic is used to numb the treatment area. Threads are then inserted horizontally into the bridge of the nose and vertically into the nasal tip. Using small barbed structures, the threads act as scaffolding which help contour and shape the nose. PDO threads can be used to lift the nose bridge, smooth nose humps and subtly refine the nose tip.

How long does the procedure take?
Appointments for PDO thread nose lifts are about an hour long.
Is it painful?
Patients may experience minor discomfort, but local anesthetic is applied to help with any pain.
How many threads are used?
In most cases, 10 – 12 threads are used for nose lifts.
How quickly will I see results?
Results are noticeable immediately after being placed and will continue to improve as new collagen and connective tissue form.
Are thread lifts permanent?
Because our bodies are able to absorb the threads, they will begin to break down 6 – 8 months after being placed.
How long does it last?
Depending on how quickly your body absorbs and dissolves the threads, results last 1 – 2 years. Touch ups may be necessary to maintain best results.
What risks are associated with PDO nose thread lifts?
Risks are mild including light swelling, soreness and bruising, which should go down within a few days of the procedure.
What is recovery like?
Since PDO threads are minimally invasive, you can return to everyday activities immediately and strenuous activities within a day or two.
Who is not a candidate?
People who want to significantly reduce the size of the size of their nose or have major nasal deformities are not candidates for PDO thread nose lifts. This treatment will not improve breathing issues associated with a deviated septum because it only addresses the external cosmetic appearance, not the breathing passages.
