The popularity of tattoos has skyrocketed in recent years, yet many individuals still struggle with regrets over their unwanted ink and decide to turn to permanent removal options. Standard removal methods for tattoos include surgical removal, and laser therapy to break down and remove ink from the skin. Out of these, laser treatments are often considered the most successful technique.

Tattoo removal in Indiana utilizes PicoSure technology to ensure the most comprehensive eradication in fewer sessions. If you are unhappy with one or more of your tattoos, contact The Centre, P.C. to speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon about an individualized treatment plan at our Medical Spa for removal.

The Benefits of PicoSure Lasers for Tattoo Removal

Though there are several tattoo removal methods in Indiana, PicoSure technology is one of the most advanced and effective options for removing unwanted skin designs. With laser tattoo removal, different ink colors often require varying light wavelengths in order to be properly and permanently removed. Unlike other lasers that focus primarily on darker pigments, PicoSure targets the complete spectrum of hues and colors commonly found in tattoos, such as pink, yellow, white, and other faded or light colors.

In addition to more thorough removal, PicoSure laser technology results in a substantially shorter recovery time than other tattoo removal lasers. The commonly used Q-switched laser requires roughly six to eight weeks of recovery, with sessions spaced out every three months. However, PicoSure healing time is one to two weeks, with subsequent treatments occurring as early as every six to eight weeks.

Factors that Influence the Results of Tattoo Removal Treatments

Even though PicoSure laser technology is the most effective option for removing skin art in Indiana, the results of these procedures also depend on several other factors.

Skin Type

A patient’s Fitzpatrick skin type, which is the measurement of skin tone ranging from one (lightest) to six (darkest), is an influencing factor as darker skin tones typically require a lower laser intensity setting to prevent skin damage. Individuals with darker skin tones will usually need more treatment sessions to sufficiently eliminate the visibility of unwanted tattoos.

Tattoo Location and Saturation

In addition, the tattoo’s location, amount of ink saturation, and probability of layering in some instances influences the number of necessary tattoo removal treatments. For example, tattoos on the wrists, hands, feet, and ankles take the longest because these areas have the poorest circulation within the body. Further, more vivid tattoos or cover-ups require additional removal sessions due to increased pigment within the skin.

Age and Size of Tattoo

A tattoo’s age also impacts the speed of the removal process, as older and faded tattoos typically respond to treatment more quickly than those that were completed more recently. Similarly, larger areas of ink will need more laser sessions than smaller, less detailed tattoos.
