Plastic Surgeons Lead the Way for Brazilian Butt Lifts in Indiana

At The Centre, P.C. in Mishawaka, IN, Dr. Ronald Downs and Dr. Rachel Macias perform Brazilian butt lifts (BBL) among many other plastic surgeries. Our board-certified plastic surgeons tell you how to prepare and what to expect from this trending and popular surgical procedure.
Preparing for a Brazilian Butt Lift: What Can You Expect?
The Centre P.C. in Mishawaka, IN, understands that plastic surgery can be life-changing. That is why our surgeons want to make sure you are fully prepared and know what to expect before, during, and after your BBL.
The surgical process typically begins with a consultation. During your consult, you will meet with one of our surgeons to determine your candidacy, your general health and wellbeing, and what your expectations and desires are post-operatively.
What happens during a BBL?
It is absolutely vital to only see a board-certified plastic surgeon who has extensive knowledge of all of the risks and complications that can be associated with a BBL. This will ensure the surgery is performed as safely as possible. A BBL is performed by first inducing general anesthesia since that is the most comfortable thing for you and will allow the surgeon to do the best job they can do. A cannula is inserted in the fatty tissue. The fat is then removed via liposuction and purified. The purified fat is then injected into the subcutaneous tissue in or around the buttock. Tiny poke hole incisions are sealed with a small suture and surgical glue. You will be placed in a surgical compression garment afterwards. As you come out of general anesthesia, our highly trained recovery staff will constantly monitor your vital signs and comfort until it is safe for you to go home. Your surgeon will see you 1-3 days after the procedure to make sure everything is beginning to heal well.
Recovery at Home
Be prepared to have someone drive you home and remain with you for at least 24 hours after surgery. Be prepared for several follow up appointments so we can monitor your progress. As with most surgery, there will be swelling and bruising afterwards. The compression garments, ice packs, and supplements we provide for you afterwards will help the swelling and bruising go away as quickly as possible. You will receive pain medication and instructions on how often to take it. Expect the discomfort to subside in 1-2 weeks, but no sitting directly on your buttocks for 6 weeks. You must avoid any exercise or strenuous activity for 4 weeks after surgery.
